Meeting Day: The 11th Day in Iceland (7 July 2008)

I have eventually changed the title of my journal from "... Day in Reykjavik" to "... Day in Iceland". I hope it isn't confusing.

I got up at 8.00 a.m. under the white sky. The morning was very misty; the visibility seemed low.

While updating my blog, the sun slightly showed up. Then, I continue making the tree before I went to the meeting at SIM office at 1 p.m. I could proceed a bit with the trunk of the tree, hardly noticeable though.

Just right before leaving the residence for the meeting, the sun came fully and remained bright the whole evening. The meeting went quite nicely. We introduced ourselves and what we would be doing while staying in Iceland. Then, we went to a vegetarian restaurant called A naetu grössum around the corner of Laugavegur 20. Everything looked unidentified to me. However, the taste was quite good. My generous portion that couldn't even manage to finish it costed 1590 ISK.

Then, I separated from others and headed to Fotografi, a photography gallery/shop on Skolavördustigur. The mini exhibition had interesting photos shot with over exposure. I dropped by at some shops on this street, there were many nice yet pricey products.

I went to check the grill grid at Byke, a hardware store nearby the residence. All of them were too large for my grill. I continued to shop food at Bonus before going back to the residence. It seemed that I bought so much food as if it was for 5 people!

After putting food to the fridge and changing clothes, I went for a walk along Skerjafjördur. I kept following my strategy of not working on a sunny day...

Even a cat was lying under the sun and smiling. Checking on the cat's name tag, I found that her name is Prins.

Many drinking water stand could be found along the shore. However, the one in the photo below was rather extraordinary. On the other hand, it was so honest with material and composition.

At one point on the shore, there was a groups of houses that seemed to be for fishermen. They looked deserted but were seemingly preserved because there was a piece of art comprising metal fish of various kinds.

A few hundred meter, there was an ancient wall with pretty flowers along. As I didn't understand Icelandic, I had no idea its significance written on the information stand.

Then, there was a bird sculpture that looked just like a bird.

The deserted piers even looked impressive on a sunny day.

Duck families seemed to relax on a beach...

Approaching the thermal beach, I realized that I should have taken my swimming suit with me. The hot pots looked so tempting. I will definitely do it soon.

Then, I chose the path that turned to Perlan, thinking that perhaps I could drop by there. I noticed a forest on the right. I seemed to be easily attracted by trees and forests because of my tree making project. The pine tree in the picture below looked just like a bush.

While walking along the path, I noticed something like a rabbit in the middle of the path a hundred meter from me. Was it a sculpture again? No, it was alive and moveable.

The rabbit was so tamed. I could easily took its pictures. The rabbit even posed eating flower. Very cute...

Having been walking for nearly 3 hours non-stop, I felt exhausted and wanted to arrive at the residence as quickly as possible. So, I took the route through a residential area.

On Solvallagata, there was a friendly cat came to me. It came too close to take a good picture of it.

Finally, I arrived at the residence at 9.45 p.m. and continued my tree until midnight when I thought that the tree was currently in the maximum length that I could easily find a package for it.

The sky was beautiful today. The picture below was taken at 11.00 p.m. and the following was at 12.20 a.m. when the sun was about the set.
